We had been working our tails off planning, collaborating, and communicating the entire game. We were leveraging our special abilities well, had a good stock of equipment cards, and were moving along nicely. Luck seemed to be on our side as several near misses turned out okay. Suddenly, as we could practically taste sweet victory, a bad combination of the wind shifting the wrong direction and blowing several times knocked one of our players off with no rope left. We lost. Did we think about taking back those last couple of plays? Yes…yes we did. Did we do it? No. =-) Why is this the best moment? Because it was exciting and memorable.

I really, really like the idea of having everything in my life organized. My wife is fantastic at this, but I am not. Over the years, we’ll clean up our game closet and be surprised when it’s a disaster again in no time at all. We even have a little shelf just to keep loose cards and game pieces to “one day” put back in their proper boxes. And then this Quiver came along and solved all of our organizational problems! Not entirely true, but it sure did for certain games in some really great ways. =-)
An actual quiver is used to store arrows (seen Arrow?). This Quiver is used to protect, organize, and transport card games. It would be the perfect gift for anyone who owns a good amount of card games or trading cards.

This is seriously the most fun game I’ve played with our kids in a long time. It’s an incredibly clever game that teaches mad deduction and memory skills. We’ve played it many times with our kids, and it has yet to get old. The replay value is very high as each game is different. It’s almost like a kids version of Clue.

The very first thing that drew me into Flashlights & Fireflies was the ambiance! I could just picture myself as a little kid running around in the dark with the neighborhood kids playing night games. I think that’s a major reason why my kids are so obsessed with this game right now.

Stowaway 52 sure brought me back to my early reading days when I would load up at the library on this particular choose-your-own-adventure series of books! For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of it (let me know if you were into any of these in the early 90s!).

Ranglin’ Rabbits is a crazy kids game. It involves lots of laughs, cheers, groans of frustration, and adorable kid clapping (you know: fingers spread wide, palms straight together, rapid clapping that melts your heart!). Essentially each dice is a rabbit, and you try to capture as many as you can into a four-sided fence enclosure. Sound easy? Well add to that dropping the handful of rabbit dice from half a foot off the surface, scared bunnies running all over the place, flicking rabbits into the enclosed area, moving fence pieces…and don’t forget the explosions. Oh, the explosions. Just when you think you’ve got a good handle of things – BAM. Not anymore.
